NRL Five Round Wrap Up

The first five weeks of the National Rugby League season has had it all – upsets, blow outs, bounce backs, golden point and of course penalties! Round 5 featured a great Sunday game with our sponsored Titans and the Sea Eagles teams going head-to-head. Playing up north in Gladstone the Titans played tough footy to get the better of Manly on the day. Now that teams are starting to find their feet we look to recap at how the first five rounds have gone and how our HART sponsored teams are travelling!

As usual the Brisbane team started the season well and looked to build on performances of the first few rounds. After winning the Queensland derby and a tight game against the Tigers, the Broncos have had trouble scoring points. Back to back losses makes the trip to New Zealand even harder for this week’s match of the round.

Always tipped as one of the premiership favourites, the Roosters have the pressure of premiership success on their backs. The off season purchases need more time to prove their value as they try work towards the top of the table.

A slow start to the season with a couple of narrow defeats had the Raiders fans worried about winning the wooden spoon. A great home win last week showed signs of the 2016 squad that defended their own line and attacked with flair.

The glitter strip has had one of the biggest off season overhauls since its introduction to the NRL. New coaches and new players are showing how gutsy forwards help the backs play their game with wins over the Broncos and Sea Eagles in the past fortnight. The Titans are flying high and are the top positioned Queensland team!

Ups and downs for the Sea Eagles after thrashing the Eels at home one week then struggling against the Rabbitohs the next. Expect more bounce backs from the Manly side but consistency is what the coach and fans want to see.

Without doubt one of the best surprises of the season so far. Attacking footy, improved defence and fitness and a bonded team culture has the Warriors 5-0. The addition of experienced forwards and a new halves combination has everyone impressed and we can feel something special about this team.

Cronulla has played out several low scoring affairs and have been on both sides of the result. Impressive defence got them the win against last year’s premiers Melbourne as the penalty count reached boiling point from players and fans alike. Finding the best combination of the new recruits is a challenge made even harder when playing the top of the table Dragons this weekend.

The season so far is showing how important the off season switches are. New faces in each club are being put to the test and the table looks considerably different from last year. Watch for the HART matchup this week when the New Zealand Warriors host the Brisbane Broncos on Saturday Afternoon!
